Herons, located in the picturesque and peaceful South Devon village of South Pool on the Salcombe estuary is an enchanting and spacious listed cottage that dates from the 16th Century and at one time was the village shop. The cottage is most attractively furnished with every home comfort provided and the rooms are beautifully decorated with a wealth of interesting features and original beams. Furthermore Herons has a lovely private landscaped garden and sunny patio at the rear. South Pool is one of the prettiest creekside villages in the South Hams, with quaint thatched cottages facing onto a quiet lane brimming with summer hanging baskets and fronted with attractive cottage gardens. A stream meanders through the village and ends at the creek approximately fifty yards from Herons where you can wander along the footpath beside the water (but not at high tide). A rowing boat is available for Herons’ guests during the summer season. By motor boat, Salcombe is a lazy 15 minute journey from the village and on a Spring tide the village jetty is accessible two hours either side of high tide. The nearby and welcoming Millbrook Inn is renowned for its delicious food.


Accommodation:


Stable door entry from the village lane into very spacious, carpeted, open plan living areaequipped with comfortable sofas, chairs, TV, video, DVD, CD and cassette player and radio and a dining area with a table that seats 8. A large Inglenook fireplace complete with original bread oven that lights up and a wood burner. Attractive kitchen/diner area, with breakfast seating for four. Fitted electric oven (with extractor fan) and ceramic hob, fridge freezer, microwave, dishwasher, fitted cupboards and wine rack. Condenser dryer, washing machine. Cloak/shower room with shower, basin and WC. French doors lead from the breakfast area to the patio, which includes an electrically operated awning. Fairly steep staircase, with narrow treads, from the living area to small landing. Master bedroom overlooking the lane with 5ft bed and large fitted cupboards. Further double bedroom (5ft bed), en-suite bathroom with bath and shower attachment, basin and WC. Bunk bedroom with full size 3ft bunk beds. Clothes storage on landing and clothes hanging hooks on wall. Twin bedroom with two 3ft beds and views over the garden.Bathroom with bath, separate large shower cubicle, basin set in vanity unit and WC.

Outside:


From the lower level patio with electrically operated canopy there is a beautiful, sunny garden reached up stone steps with railings, with a paved area complete with garden furniture (seating for eight on teak table) and barbecue. Children’s garden swing. With lovely views over the countryside, the lawns rise gently to the top of the garden with additional seasting. A rowing boat is provided during the summer season (for use at own risk) and kept on the village jetty.
